Fabric selection is an important decision for the FashioNext designers. The official competition fabric provider, Brentano Fabrics, is an interior design textile company, so the fabrics the designers must choose from can be very different from the materials they are used to working with. Brentano’s fabrics are designed to be used for everything from drapery to upholstery, and because of this, they often have a heavier weight and a different drape than fabric used in clothing design. This year, in order to help the designers make a more informed decision, Brentano invited each of them to their showroom in the Merchandise Mart to learn a little more about their options and the Brentano product.
