One Last Spin at Kiddieland
October 13th, 2009Filed under: Collections, History

On Sunday, September 27, 2009 the Kiddieland amusement park in Melrose Park, IL closed after more than eight decades in operation. A huge crowd showed up for the last day. People waited over an hour to get into the park. The Little Dipper, bumper cars, and Tilt-A-Whirl were in full swing all day long.
The Chicago History Museum wants to document the history of Kiddieland, a beloved Chicago-area landmark. If you have objects or images you’d like to donate to the museum please fill out our donation form.

Have you seen the “Kiddieland/Melrose Park” group on flickr? Some good images, though I think most of them are recent…

I can’t believe Kiddieland is gone! So many great childhood memories there. I’m sad I’ll never get to take my kids there.
