Sights and Sounds of Pride
July 10th, 2009Filed under: Events
If you missed the 2009 Chicago Pride Parade, you missed out. Check out a few sights and sounds from the 40th annual end-of-June event, which celebrates the history and diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities.
The parade starts in Lakeview and concludes at Diversey and Cannon in Lincoln Park. A lovely, and mission-rich, time was had by marchers and spectators. Thousands gathered to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots in New York City, demand equal rights from President Obama, and, of course, dance. Put the Pride Parade on your 2010 calendar, and be sure to look for a spectacular history float from the Chicago History Museum on the route!
