FashioNext: The Brentano Challenge
March 12th, 2009Filed under: Exhibitions
Imagine having to design an evening gown with window drapery fabric. That’s just what the FashioNext designers are working on right now. The designers say that one of the most unique and challenging aspects of the FashioNext competition is utilizing Brentano fabrics in their design. Brentano is the exclusive fabric provider for this competition, and they are supplying 10 yards of fabric to each finalist. The challenge is that Brentano is a textile company that designs and manufactures fabrics mainly used for interior design, rather than fashion design. This means that the finalists will have to work with drapery and upholstery fabrics to create elegant gowns. Brentano gave each designer four boxes of samples to sort through and choose from. These sample boxes contained hundreds of options, but this only represented a small percentage of Brentano’s line. Recently, I visited their warehouse. Check out these images to see more of what Brentano has to offer.
