Get OUT! An exhibition for 2010
February 2nd, 2009Filed under: Events, Exhibitions

Last Thursday was an informative and thoroughly entertaining kick-off of the Chicago History Museum’s OUT at CHM program series for the 2009 season. OUT at CHM explores the long and storied history of Chicago’s gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.
Congratulations to the featured speaker, my fellow curator Tim Long, who spoke on the topic “Closets Are for Clothes.” The evening was made even more celebratory with CHM president Gary Johnson’s announcement of the Museum’s plan to develop an exhibition on the history of Chicago’s GLBT community in fall 2010. The exhibit team, including yours truly, is currently collecting suggestions and opinions about the exhibit to help us in our research and planning stages. If you are interested in sharing an opinion or an idea, please comment back to me on this entry.
- When you think about gay Chicago, what most comes to mind?
- Are there certain sites or locations in the city that are special to GLBT history?
- What’s your story?
We’d love to know what you’re thinking!
More soon…
